Cost and Revenue Characteristics of the Salmon Fisheries in California and Oregon

In the wake of the 2006 West Coast salmon disaster, a research partnership was created to increase our understanding of the dynamics and economics of the commercial salmon fishery. The National Marine Fisheries Service, with guidance from the Oregon Department of Fisheries and Wildlife and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, provided funding to assemble a summary report on cost and revenue characteristics of the commercial salmon fishery in California and Oregon. The snapshot of the commercial salmon troll fleet characteristics can be used in impact analyses and other assessments that, ultimately, will facilitate fisheries management decisions from biological, State and local economy perspectives.
